Before leaving for Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands where he stayed till his death on the 8th of May in 1903, Paul Gauguin stayed several times in Pont-Aven (between 1886 and 1894). The museum celebrates this centenary by exposing the most renowned international works from Gauguin, Bernard, Sérusier, Denis, Filiger, Verkade, de Haan, Maufra, Moret, Seguin, Jourdan, Delavallée, de Chamaillard, Slewinski, O’Conor, Ballin…

The name of “Pont-Aven art school” was given to these 20 painters because of their unity of expression.
The exposition contains 51 works of which 6 from the hand of the master and numerous not exposed uptill now in Brittany.
